Sizewell C Opponents Call For A Closer Look t EDF’s Proposals

A dossier setting out the case against building the Sizewell C nuclear power plant has been sent to the local authority “task force” examining plans for the £14 billion project. The 20-page document has been compiled by the Together Against Sizewell C consortium, (which we support), which is spearheading the campaign to halt EDF Energy’s proposals. It sets out concerns about the impact on a large area of east Suffolk from construction traffic and workers and the potential for damage to a “protected” landscape. The dossier also suggests the new power station will expose the public to increased risks – from routine radioactive discharges as well as terrorist attack – and highlights what opponents regard as the scarcity of detail about issues such as transport and the environment. It aims to persuade members of the Joint Local Authority Group (JLAG) task force to take a more critical look at EDF’s proposals and to demand more data from the company.’
