The Good News 3: New Power Stations In Doubt After Brexit Change

The new wave of British nuclear power stations is in jeopardy after the government announced it would pull out of the European Atomic Energy Community, known as Euratom, which plays a crucial roIe in ensuring compliance with international nuclear safeguards as well as establishing a European market for nuclear goods and services worth tens of billions of pounds. Withdrawal could cause ‘major disruption for both existing and new build nuclear projects’. Continued membership of Euratom would mean oversight of the European Court of Justice, one of Theresa May‘s red lines on Brexit.
