Wind Of Change Finally Reaches French Shores

The French Government has finally announced ambitious plans to install hundreds of giant turbines in the Channel and the Atlantic. Four contracts will lead to building 2,000 megawatts of offshore wind capacity: France has a target of meeting 23 per cent of its energy demand from renewables by 2020. The state-owned EDF has won the lion’s share of the contracts, worth £5.8 billion … from The Guardian’ 7th April. (EDF seeing the benign non-polluting way forward at last? – Ed.)
